Budget is specific to a year, and changes each year. Sage 50 carries budget forward, and does not get tracked by year. This means that at the beginning of each year, I input the new budget for the upcoming year, and the budget for the prior year is overwritten. The software does not retain and track budget by year. It assumes that the budget remains the same each year, and this is not how business works.
This should be easily solved by having budgets entered and the year entered to the applicable budget. It should not be allowed to close the year without asking the question about the budget "Do you want to carry forward the previous year budget or do you want to enter a new budget for the new year?"
